Midtherm UV Ltd are a UK designer and manufacturer of high quality UVC air sanitisation products. All of our conservatively designed products, have been developed, with and for the NHS. Both fixed, in-duct and mobile units are available in a range of sizes. All have been independently tested for safety and efficacy ( by NHS lab). Air testing after installation verify their effectiveness. Hundreds of our units are in use within the NHS at hospitals, GP’s and dental practices. We are part of a privately owned group of businesses that has been trading for over 50 years.
How many organisations/clients currently utilise the service/solution across the UK?
Over the last 2 years we have supplied UVC are sanitisers to schools, colleges, Dentists, care homes, NHS hospitals, pubs, offices etc.
Is there anything you would like to make delegates aware of ahead of the IPC & HFM Conference in Scotland?
Throughout our product development we have worked very closely with the NHS . Helpful, end user input support, from Professor Tony Fisher at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital has influenced our resultant designs. Also key recommendations from the recent NHS “Guidelines & Standards for the Application of Ultraviolet (UVC) Devices for Air Cleaning in Occupied Healthcare Spaces”, have been incorporated into our designs. Key UVC design parameters for air sanitation as recommended by ASHRAE, are respected too.
All of our units are designed to administer a substantial dose of UVC radiation, sufficient to destroy all of the bacteria and viruses commonly found in healthcare settings. As a reference we design, as a minimum, for at least a 2 log reduction of Inf A virus, 4mJ/cm2 each pass, whilst operating at the full design stated flow rate. If higher dosages are required we are able to design for those too. We incorporate a G4 pre-filter as standard. The lamps are guaranteed to last 9,000 hours, so this means low ongoing consumable costs.
If you wish to contact us ahead of the conference please feel free to call Barry Paterson on 07796654269.
What do you feel are the key points delegates need to digest when considering a partnership with your organisation?
We are a very proactive company that gives a high level of service to our customers. All of our solutions are arrived at following careful consideration of our client’s needs. Being a manufacturer, we are able to react quickly to demand. All of the manufacturing activities are done in house using our own engineering facilities. Every unit undergoes an 8 hour, full load test run, before being cleared for despatch.
Do you want to add any other key points?
We are able to offer our clients an air testing service ahead of making any decisions over UVC air sanitisation. This invariably highlights, in a very visual way, how many pathogens there are in the air. The same testing after the UVC is installed, demonstrates how effective our products are.
The use of UVC in lieu of increasing existing ventilation, to reduce the airborne risks posed by pathogens, is a very effective way of avoiding the associated heat energy losses. The use of embedded UVC into existing ducting systems is a very cost effective, low installation impact, way of reducing the airborne risks. Our devices do not add any significant additional resistance to the H&V system. We have a case study of such an installation we did at Maidstone & Tunbridge Well NHS Trust. The results obtained showed a 82% reduction in the airborne bacterial burden in a busy A&E triage ward.
